30 Days

The real countdown has now begun! I'll be leaving for New York in a month, and then I'm off to Johannesburg!

Here's a list of things I need or have yet to find out:

• My visa
• My suitcase back...it's being repaired (THANKS DELTA AIRLINES FOR BREAKING IT!)
• Some random AFS info
• Who my host family is.
• Where I'll be living

This week and next week I'm doing a community service project at a local bilingual school. I'm excited to work with the kids and use my Spanish skills at the same time! 

South Africa is so far off but so soon at the same time! I can't believe it! 

47 days.

Now it's all about waiting. What am I waiting for? I'm waiting for a host family placement, a visa, and most importantly to go to South Africa! I have 47 days before I get on the plane to Johannesburg and I can't wait. Until then, there is a lot to do. I still have 5 more days of school, followed by a two week service project. I'll be busy between now and when I leave, but I'm pretty anxious to go on this amazing adventure! This weekend is the pre-departure orientation so I'll be able to meet other kids in the Chicago area who are going abroad this semester. Forty-seven. I can't believe it. February 22nd will be here before I know it!
